The Autonomous University of Nuevo León gave birth to Tigres on March 7, 1960, and the team is currently managed by Sinergia Deportiva, a subsidiary of CEMEX. The "Universitarios" has seven League titles in their 62 years of life, one Champions League, three Cup championships, and three Champion of Champions among other recognitions, which are added to a sub championship in the Club World Cup, being the only Concacaf team in reaching the Final, and another sub championship in the Copa Libertadores, which only three other Mexican teams have achieved in history.
